Places of Interest in of Oxford

Here you will find reviews of places to visit in Oxford. There is also a virtual tour of the Oxford bookshops taking in other tourist attractions on the way and a few restaurant reviews. Links to official websites of the places mentioned and links where you can find further information.

A Literary Tour of Oxford
This is my own virtual tour of Oxford and it includes over 20 bookshops and many of the most famous attractions in the city. I have included links to the places mentioned. Like any other detailed tour this will take some time to complete.

The Covered Market
The covered market is an historical Victorian shopping area in the centre of Oxford with delicious smells, assorted eateries and interesting shops.

Oxford University Parks
A rather self-indulgent nostalgic trip to the Parks.

Oxford University Museum of Natural History
Here be dinosaurs and the world famous dodo.

Christ Church College
Just one of Oxford's many colleges. Christ Church was home to Alice in Wonderland and more recently was 'Hogwarts', Harry Potter's school.

Christ Church Meadows
Another green space in Oxford

The Martyr's Memorial
A short history of the memorial.

Restaurants and Cafes

Rosamund the Fair
Rosamund the Fair is a canal boat restaurant that cruises the waterways of Oxford. Rosamund the Fair is presently located in Banbury but hopefully will be back in Oxford soon. Highly recommended for a wonderful experience.

Pierre Victoire
Excellent French food at budget prices.

The Magic Cafe
The Magic cafe is a vegetarian cafe located in Magdalen Road East Oxford right next to the Inner Book Shop.

Books Reviews

These are reviews I have written about books with an Oxford connection.

His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman

Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
